We often hear advices write everything down like it would guarantee, that information we write down - would make sense and stay in our minds forever. Another common recommendation - if You need to take a decision write down pros and cons, like if we were robots. Would it actually help us to take a decision?
What about our hearts?
They further we go with technology progress the more we try to treat everything as mechanical system, even ourselves. If we don’t want to do anything even though we think it’s super useful for us - we search for a million ways how to push ourselves to something that we don’t actually want to do. What if, after so many years of innovation - we are still humans? What if we still have our “hearts” that whisper to ourselves what we really want, but we want to listen to much more “rational” way of thinking? Perhaps - to really understand what do we want we’d need to sit in silence for couple of minutes and listen to ourselves and then we’d understand.
Writing everything down is unhealthy
When we have a meeting - it’s important to have meeting minutes. However - we need to have reliable system for storing them, otherwise it would become a digital trash. It’s important to have written down important facts and decisions and send it to everyone attending that meeting for fact check and further potential discussions. However - if we want to write down too much - it’s easy to loose the main meaning, core of the conversation. Being obsesses with writing everything down removes yourself from present moment into distant future with anxiety that something can be missed. Some things - just need to stay unwritten in order to be able to stay alive during the conversation.
